HEMP
Hemp is one of the oldest plants grown by man. Of a dioic nature, it is part of the family of cannabinaceae. It is used all over the world for its grain, fibre and leaves. Cerela's involvement in hemp cultivation began in 2017. Since then, the team has been developing new industrial hemp cultivars for fibre, grain or pharmaceutical (CBD). Many trials are also etablished every year to better understand how to best manage this crop. Cerela is also a shareholder in UniSeeds Inc (www.uniseeds.ca), a Canadian company offering certified hemp seed to farmers in several countries.
