Cerela is pleased to welcome Mr. Jean-Marc Montpetit to his genetic improvement team. Mr. Montpetit will act as an advisor to the team and will work particularly on the integration of genomic selection, the prediction of the best cultivars with mathematical algorithms.
Mr. Montpetit comes to Cerela with over 38 years of experience in the seed industry. With 13 years of experience in maize breeding, he will be able to transfer this knowledge to Cerela breeding programs. The use of these new technologies will make it possible to develop more quickly cultivars with significant genetic gains in yield for Quebec producers and also meeting the needs of processors.
Montpetit’s new position allows Cerela, as a private company in genetic improvement, to consolidate its position as a leader in Canada in the creation of new multi-species varieties.
